Changes to constitution

At the last AC meeting held in Bordeaux on May 30th, a decision in principle was reached to (i) further reduce the length of the term of Past-Presidents to 2 terms of 4 years; (ii) to reduce the length of term of representatives of the Member Organizations to a maximum of two terms of 4 years, and (iii) to increase the numbers of permissible members-at-large". This was in order to introduce "new blood" into the Association.
This has been formulated into a resolution which will be voted on at the next AGM to be held in Naples on Saturday 11th February. The significant constitutional changes are shown below.

If any members of the Member organizations would like to comment on these proposals, they are invited to contact the relevant Member Organization.

Update on Peter Ihrke scholarship initiative

The WAVD has a mission to share knowledge in veterinary dermatology with all veterinarians and to provide support for those individuals in every region of the globe. Some key members of the veterinary dermatology community have played a very important role in WAVD. The Association wishes to honour the life and career of Professor Peter Ihrke by offering a scholarship to commemorate his contribution to the discipline of veterinary dermatology. Peter was the Chief of Veterinary Dermatology at the University of California-Davis (UCD) Veterinary School and he inspired the careers of many key members of our global discipline by training and mentoring residents. He was also highly motivated to support the growth and development of veterinary dermatology amongst veterinarians denied the privilege of ready access to continuing education.

Over 2,150 people gathered in Bordeaux, France from 31 May to 04 June 2016 for the 8th World Congress of Veterinary Dermatology. This was the largest number of participants ever for a World Congress and included 1,750 delegates from 72 countries. A little over half the delegates were from Europe with 20% from North America and 18% from Asia. Twenty-three sponsors contributed to the success of the Congress. Principal sponsors included Bayer Animal Health, Ceva Corporation, Elanco Animal Health, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, ICF (Industria Chimica Fine), Nestlé Purina PetCare, Royal Canin, Virbac, Zoetis and the World Association for Veterinary Dermatology (WAVD).
